What You Should Decide First#
| Decision | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Android or Linux | Determines BSP choice, UI stack, update method, driver risk, and long-term maintenance. |
| Display and touch | MIPI DSI, LVDS, HDMI, eDP, RGB, rotation, brightness, and touch controller support can eliminate otherwise attractive SoCs. |
| Product workload | HMI, gateway, camera, AI, signage, and handheld products stress different SoC blocks. |
| Interface list | Ethernet, CAN, RS485, USB, camera, audio, storage, and GPIO exposure depend on both SoC and board design. |
| Lifecycle target | A consumer multimedia SoC may not be the right fit for a 7-year industrial product. |
